Blog Slacker

It has been awhile since I last blogged, but I have a good excuse. I got the sickies. Never fails, at least once around this time of year I get hit with a cold. So I was down for the count a few days...I am now trying to play catch up, and not being very good about it at the moment. I have a mental list of stuff I really have to get done. Time is flying! Iwill post pics of my decorated home and such when I next get a chance...now off I go...

mmmmm....

can you smell it? Banana bread...got up at 6 this morning and baked a couple loaves for Thanksgiving breakfast. It smells so good in here. I added peanut butter to it this time. I thought the girls and Robbie and would love that.

We are heading to the the in-laws for turkey din din. Yummy! Then off to the movies with my family (a Thanksgiving tradition that started back when Toy Story came out) to see Happy Feet. Looks like a really cute one!

Hope you all enjoy your day!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Friday, already!?

This week flew buy...woosh! Looking forward to this weekend. We are celebrating Thanksgiving early with my family. My sister and her family are heading to central California. They rented a cabin for the whole week of Thanksgiving. So tomorrow it will be turkey dinner and a birthday party in the evening. My nephew is turning 15! Wasn't he just a baby yesterday!!?? *sigh* A full day. Looking forward to it. I have to make sweet potato casserole..yummo!

I got my wood cut for my craft project (thank you Robbie and John). Now I need to sand and paint. I hope it turns out...

Got a couple more things crossed off my list... I got my haircut and the girls a a trim too.

I am fighting fatigue today...not even coffee is helping. After I get a few things done around the house I think I am gonna get out for awhile. Robbie is gone all day. He is helping a friend build a music room. So exciting for them. Now they will have their own un-interrupted space when they Jam every other Sunday. I am learning more and more how valuable this decompression time is for the guys. They work so hard during the week ,they need that time to just get away from it all. It really does make a difference. It makes them happy, and that makes me happy too. It took me a WHOLE year to figure that out. I felt that any free time should be spent with his family. I get it now, and not only do I get it, but I can empathize too. I understand the need to escape responsibilty for a moment and just breathe. Not only does it have positive effects on us individually, but also in our marriage realtionship. For whatever reason, men need this (women too), and the quicker us wives get that, the happier we'll be!

Alright, enough preaching, gotta get to work...

Have a great weekend!!

Wednesday

It's already Wednesday! Dang! This week is sure hop, hop, hoppin' along!!

I went to Target yesterday and bought my Christmas wrapping paper, and found THE best invention ever! A ribbon organizer box! I would take a picture of it, but my camera is broke :(
I would link it to the Target webiste, but they didn't have it listed...ho humm...you'll just have to go check it out next time you're there! Seriously, I was so excited! It doesn't take much, I know!!

On Monday, Robbie and I got away for a dinner date and stopped by this cute little Christmas store where he bought me 3 cute little angel ornaments (I wish I could show you them). They will be a sweet little edition to my tree this year.

We are getting another tree this year. Just a little one though. For the girls. One they can decorate anyway they want. With homemade ones or some we pick up along the way. Gonna put it up in the dinning room. I think it will be so cute, and the girls will LOVE it!

I have wasted too much time bloggin'. I have laundry to do...gotta run!

Happy Wednesday!

Mondays

I almost like Mondays as much as I like Fridays. I think because it's the beginning of the week, a chance to start over. Set some goals and get stuff done. I already have a couple of things crossed off my November list. I finished up my Christmas cards, got the girls a haircut and started a craft project. I am already feeling a bit of a crunch. I hate when that happens, 'cause I'd like to have my list done before Thanksgiving, we'll see. Good thing I am not a stresser, if it doesn't all happen, it doesn't happen. I just like to challenge myself a little bit...

So we didn't have any big plans for the weekend...we just used it to get some stuff done and then we went and hung out with some friends. It was a nice, kickback weekend. Nice, because I know with the Holidays coming, it will just get crazy, exciting and hectic. It is my goal this year to keep the focus of why we celebrate CHRISTmas. Not to get so wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of the season. It breaks my heart because it seems to me, that every year the CHRIST in Christmas gets a little smaller and smaller. People forget the real meaning of Christmas. I can't control what other people think and do, but I can make sure that in my own heart I remember and that I teach my children it's meaning so that our focus will not be lost...

I Didn't know when I started this post, that it would head in this direction, I guess I needed it.

Well, have a great Monday!!

November

My favorite time of year! The weather is getting chilly so I am pulling out some crockpot recipes. Soups and stews. Homemade chicken soup is one, for sure. Yummy and warm to the tummy! And it will cure what ales' (sp?) you. Along with the change of weather comes the flu season...Robbie now has what the girls had. He tried so hard to avoid it...poor guy.

I have also been making a mental list of things I want to have/get done this month. Not necessarily in this order....

1. Finish up making my christmas cards.
2. Go through the girl's toys and get rid of any unused ones they have.
3. Bake
4. Start Christmas shopping.
5. Get back to the gym.
6. Get haircut.
7. Get the girls a trim too.
8. Get a peidcure. Robbie's treat :)
9. Family pictures taken. We are really overdue for one.
10. Make at least 1 scrapbook page each for the girl's albums.
11. Create craft project for the girls.

Now that I have them written down, hopefully I will start to cross them off here soon!!

Here's to setting some goals and accomplishing them!!

McKenzie Bell

Here she is with Rebekah *eh hem* I mean Alice, from Wonderland workin' that parade!

She's got the princess wave down! You go girl!! Whoo hoo!!

Princess playground...

She really had a great time! She was pretty exhausted though. She came home and took a 2 hour nap. Later that night Robbie and John took them out for trick or treating and came home with a bag full of candy! All in all it was a great day and I was so glad they both recovered well enough to particiapate!

Haylee Bell

Haylee had a great time at McKenzie's school before the parade started. She got a chance to play with cousin Rachel.... They were the opening act! heehee
